Highlights from select applications
Television industry
Closed captioning is created real-time and sent to the station to embed in the
television broadcast within seconds of the spoken word. All televisions, 13"
and larger, built after 1993 can display closed captioning on Line 21. Live
captioning fully meets FCC requirements.
Teleconferencing
Audio and video teleconferencing sessions can include captioning a live
transcript of the discussion, created real-time and available as the event
occurs. The session transcript allows late arrivals to catch up on the missed
conversation and a full transcript is available as the session concludes. The
transcript is keyword searchable and is created in an XML format. A customer
personalized viewer window is available.
Education
Captioning a professor's live lecture in the classroom can support deaf
students, classroom learning, and can help professors develop online learning
and distance education materials more expediently. Captured audio along with
the transcript can be streamed to the Internet in a secure setting so only
authorized users can hear and view the lecture. Live captioning gives all
students the ability to see, in addition to hear, the lecturer's words, and
enhances learning.
Financial Reporting
Federal Regulation FD (Fair Disclosure) requires greater company compliance
with publicly distributed information. Webcasts and written transcripts can
assist in meeting compliance. Private board meetings (with secure captioning),
public sessions, and investor relation calls are ideal candidates for real-time
transcripts.
Special Events
Festivals, annual meetings, conventions, sporting events, crusades, and more
can be enhanced with real-time transcripting of the event. Captioned text can be
delivered to television screens, Jumbotrons, web-enabled cellular phones,
wireless PDAs, alpha pagers, and the Internet.
